Ella Henderson on top of the world at number one with Ghost after whirlwind success since X Factor

That was the joy felt by Tetney's Ella Henderson as she rocketed to number one in the music charts with her debut single Ghost.
The area's first pop singer to get to the top of the charts, it will no doubt be the first of many for the 18-year-old – who also confirmed on Radio 1 last night media reports that she has a new boyfriend, Grimsby man Matt Harvey.
She also revealed that Simon Cowell, who signed the teenager to his Syco record label, was among the first to ring and congratulate her on her chart-topping success.
Interviewed on the radio show, she told DJ Jameela Jamil, who said she had swotted up on Ella by reading Grimsby Telegraph articles, that she answered an "unknown number" and it was the music and talent mogul wishing her every success.
But, the biggest revelation of the night was her confirmation that there was a new man in her life – although it was "early days".
Despite initially thought to be facing rivalry from the release of Rik Mayall's Noble England, following his death at the age of 56 a week ago, it was Ed Sheeran that Ella knocked off the top spot last night.
It is the first song released from her album Chapter One, which is due out later this year.
After all the champagne corks popped, Ella said: "It is incredible when you consider that two years ago I came off X Factor and here I am now. I am buzzing.
"The support around me has been amazing. I want to thank everyone who has sent messages wishing me well. All my family and friends have been behind me all the way, so supportive and proud."
Ella's hopes of a number one with Ghost were bouyed when midway through the week it was revealed fans had already snapped up more than 78,000 copies since its June 8 release, making it one of the fastest-selling singles this year, according to the Official Charts Company. In the end, the song sold a total of 132,000 to give the top spot.
She told the Telegraph she will celebrate the success with some quality time with family and friends.
"It's a big celebration being on top of the charts. I will now chill out with friends and we will sit and share the moment with a bottle of champagne," she said.
It comes less than two years after the disappointment of being booted out early from the X Factor in 2012.
Describing Ghost as "soulful and anthemic", it was co-written with One Republic lead singer Ryan Tedder, from Denver in the United States, who has also penned tracks for the likes of Leona Lewis, Beyonce and Adele. And the song was written on her 18th birthday.
Ella said: "It is the first time I have gone into the charts and you could not ask for more. I am proud of myself for getting this far."
The whirlwind success since her X Factor debut has provided the Lincolnshire teenager with some lifetime experiences.
She said filming the video for Ghost in New Orleans gave her a "hit-me moment".
Ella said: "Being on the set, I thought 'Oh my God, people are going to see and hear me visually'."
She said it gave her enormous joy to be in the music industry and performing. I love my job and to do something creative every day is fantastic.
